New Start

The old blog chronicling the transition from work to retirement is now complete after two years. This new blog is for us to let you know what is going on here, and you can post in kind if you wish.

In that spirit, here are some pics of our musical adventures this weekend. On Friday night, we performed with the contradance band at the 150th anniversary of a ball in Frankfort that was cancelled due to the Civil War Battle of Perryville (just down the road). Both band members and dancers dressed in period costumes, so thanks to Goodwill, Jane came as the belle of the ball and I was a corporal in the Confederate cavalry (much easier to find grey pants than light blue ones!). Even though they play VERY fast, we had the week to practice and made it through fine. On Saturday, which was a gorgeous fall day, we drove to Paris just north of Lexington for a performance at an apple orchard's fall festival. That group is composed mainly of dulcimers with a few guitars and me thrown in; they play at a pace on the other end of the spectrum. Had a good time there, too, and were given a couple bags of apples in "payment". In other news, work starts on the pergola for our back deck this week if the weather cooperates.
